Whether verification is trustworthy depends on where the fingerprint manifest comes from and whether it can be tampered with. Our manifest has multiple layers of protection.

Hashes are computed locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API. Only the 64-character fingerprint is sent for comparison — your installer content never leaves your computer.

Each version's fingerprint is officially issued and digitally signed. Even if the website storage is compromised, the manifest cannot be forged or tampered without the private key.

Common questions about installer authenticity verification

It proves the installer is officially issued and not modified by third parties. But security also depends on having no malware on your machine and keeping up to date. We're honest: no method can 100% block all risks, but this step stops the vast majority of supply chain attacks.
The file's fingerprint is not in the official signed manifest. It may be a version too new to sync, or the file may have been tampered with or come from an unofficial channel. We recommend re-downloading the latest version from the official website. If you're sure you downloaded from the official site, please contact support.
No. The file is not uploaded — the hash is computed locally in your browser. The server only receives an irrelevant fingerprint string and cannot reconstruct any of your file content.
